Sanitation Coalition continues their educational work at fairs all around New York City.
Members of the Sanitation Coalition took a field trip to the Sims Recycling Center, a state of the art recycling center in Brooklyn. They learned about how the waste stream is divided up into metal and glass for which there are markets and plastic for which there is less demand. Eadaoin Quinn told us that as there is no market for plastic bags it is important to limit one’s use of them.
The Sanitation Coalition awarded certificates to the community members who were instrumental in getting our polling places restored. The Election Commission had changed many of the polling places to unfamiliar venues that were difficult for elderly and handicapped residents to access.
